What Are Credit Cards?
Credit cards are small plastic cards that are provided to individuals or partners by a financial organization for use as a mechanism to purchase or pay for goods and services. The credit card holders have an agreement with the card provider that they will spend up to their agreed credit limit and then make a percentage payment on (or pay in full) the amount borrowed at an agreed date (usually each month). If credit card holders spend exceed the agreed credit limit, they will usually incur charges.
The access to credit that a credit card brings comes at a price. Since a credit card effectively offers holders a line of credit, the amount of money borrowed from the card supplier is subject to interest charges.
Credit cards are generally issued by financial organizations: principally banks, credit unions and other large finance companies.
