Mountain America Credit Union Background Information
Formed in 1934, Mountain America Credit Union was originally the Salt Lake Telephone Employees Credit Union or SLTECU. However, after merging with Postal Workers Credit Union (PWCU) in 1984, the credit union changed its name to Mountain America Credit Union to better reflect the diversity of its membership. In 1988, Mountain America merged with the Utah State Credit Union, becoming the 2nd largest credit union in Utah and setting its course as a modern and full-service financial institution.
As of today, MACU’s extensive network of branch locations and ATMs span much of the Intermountain West, including Nevada, Arizona, Utah and New Mexico.
